Snow In Lemnos

A really rare sight! It snowed in the island just a week ago and we expect a new snowstorm tomorrow even here in Athens. Enjoy these beautiful pictures from Pyroessa blog!

Fanciful Children Rooms

Designed by the Ukranian studio Archproject-Style  these spaces impressed me with their style and originality.

A room with an elevated bed and special facilities for play and sports seems like a kid’s heaven. A grass carpet, a galaxy wallpaper and a ceiling with planets are the elements that complete the theme of the room. Any boy would’ve been really happy living there!

The lighting is very interesting and well studied. Counting the stars while falling to sleep!

A nursery that feels like a nest with all those feathers on the walls!

Great lighting fixtures, calm and relaxing atmosphere and a very earthy color palette.

The giant feathers are actually lighting fixtures and they make the mursery look quite dreamy!

A very modern room for older kids with earthy feeling, wooden paneling and interesting wallpaper.  I love the pebble cushions!

Wire Heads On The Wall

Yesterday we admired the work of  David Oliveira. Today I found those pictures of a Swedish home, taken by the photographer Magnus Anesund and I noticed these fabulous heads made of wire on the walls. I don’t know if they were made by the same artist, but they look great. A fine idea for wall art!

The Fabulous Jewelry Of Lisa Sotilis

Lisa Sotilis is a  Greek by birth, sculptress, painter and jewelry designer whose sublime  art work cannot be described in ordinary expressions. Lisa was born in Athens and when she was still young and student of Giorgio De Chirico she took part in national and international exhibitions, winning important prizes such as the Rammazzotti Prize, the gold medal of Carrara Academy, and the Cup of the President of the Republic.

She creates amazing gold sculptures that can be worn, made of antique stones, glass, cameos, or precious stones according to the moment’s creative mood.  Her inventiveness and imagination bring to life her pieces, they become elements of nature that wrap around the body and transform women into godesses!

She has the ability to convert the most indifferent materials into fascinating astonishing forms.  Her inspiration derives from Hellenic spirit,  which Salvatore Quasimodo described as “reveal of the influential power of the Greek myth.”

From 1965 Lisa figured in the list of the famous names chosen by Alexander Iolas. She exhibited with Iolas in Geneva, Paris, Rome, Madrid, New York, Los Angeles, and others.

She has created amazing jewels for many personalities of the international elite such as Farah Diba, the Queen Maria José of Savoy, the Princess Maria Beatrice of Savoy, Rudolf Nureyev, Claudia Cardinale, Annie Girardot, Roland Petit and the most rich and famous Greek and international families.

Definitely an insiration for every jewelry designer!

Elektra Bakery

This small bakery operates in Edessa, Greece since November 2009 and was designed by the Greek studio Studioprototype. Electra is occupying just 35 square meters and was the pilot project for a chain of bakeries.

The construction of the counters and the seating bar is made of beautiful Carrara Arabescato marble while other fine materials like cedar wood and brass have been used, complimenting the shop with glamorous quality.

Furthermore Tom Dixon‘s fabulous pendant lights  look amazing! The traditional bakery enviroment is underlined by the use of oak bread racks.  The industrial metal chairs by Xavier Pauchard complete the look.

Gift Packaging Out Of Egg Cartons

This Christmas I made few bracelets for gifts and I needed a nice packaging. The thought of repurposing egg cartons crossed my mind a couple of weeks before, so I kept some cartons apart. When the opportunity occured I took them out.

I used some spray paints to paint them in copper, gold and silver hues and left them to dry. Then I put inside some black feathers to add some glamour and maybe to honor the chics!

The truth is that it wasn’t easy to see the bracelet among all these feathers, but I liked it anyway!

Then I made a nice wrapping with various ribbons and decorations!

They were a hit I must say! From now on, never throwing those egg cartons away again!
